Yellowhammer
(Emberiza citrinella)
A
bird of farmland, it likes bushy areas and hedgerows. Its
song is a familiar rural sound in the UK "a little
bit of bread and no cheeeeese". The male is a beautiful
bird, almost canary like from front-on, but with a streaked
red-brown back.
