Waxwing - Bombycilla garrulus

Waxwings are usually rare winter visitors from the far north of Europe but every few years they arrive in much greater numbers. They often feed in Rowens and other planted trees in built up areas, such as landscaped carparks, and are quite approachable. Their exotic plumage makes them easily identifiable. Their name derives from the small red wax-like blobs on the wings.
