This summer visitor is very similar to the Meadow Pipit, it has a larger bill, finer streaking on its flanks and a different call. It is also found in different habitats, being most commonly seen in lightly wooded areas on heathland. As the name suggests, it is most likely to be seen in trees, rather than on the ground.
In Leicestershire it is rare but can be seen at Bardon Hill and Beacon Hill.
