Royal Tern (Sterna maxima)

A coastal bird found seen mainly in the Southern States. It nests in colonies and the adults are conspicuous by their bright orange bills. The orange bill of the Elegant Tern is thinner and that of the Caspian Tern is thicker. The black cap of the Royal Tern is aquired only briefly during the breeding season.
