Purple
Gallinule (Porphyrula martinica)
Found
in the southern USA down to Argentina in swamps, lagoons
and marshes. Its smart purple-blue plumage, red and yellow
beak and white under-tail coverts make it an easy bird to
identify.

This bird was searching for food amongst the grassy banks
of a pool in the Everglades National Park, Florida. With good
light to highlight its spectacular colour, it presented a
great opportunity to watch and photograph the bird at close
range.
