A small white heron which is now spreading northwards in the UK, after first colonising the south coast in the late eighties and breeding for the first time in 1996. It is now regularly seen in my county of Leicestershire. the black beak and yellow feet, together with long plumes in the breeding season make this a spectacular and welcome addition to Britain.
