Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo)

The Buzzard is increasing its numbers in Britain and breeding birds can now be found over many more counties than a decade or so ago. It feeds on a wide range of prey, including birds, voles, rabbits and even worms. It breeeds in trees. It has broad wings and soars easily. The pale broad band along the middle of the underwings is a good identification when in flight.

The Buzzard is now a resident breeder in Leicestershire and is much more frequently seen. Groby Pool, Leicestershire, UK
