Laughing Kookaburra - Dacelo novaeguineae

kookaburras are large kingfishers, native to Australia and New Guinea. They are well known for there loud call, which sounds like human, hysterical laughter. They are carnivorouis and eat lizards, snakes, insects and carrion - perching on vantage points to scan for food opportunities. They have adapted to live near human habitation and will take scraps fed to them (or that they can rob).
