Azure Kingfisher - Alcedo azurea

Perhaps the most attractive of Australia's 10 kingfishers, this small bird is only found by waterways. Like the European kingfisher, it perches on branches before diving into the water to catch fish and sometimes small frogs. It is found throughout Eastern Australia and also in the North. It breeds in a meter long tunnel, excavated into the bank which it lines with fish scales and shells.
