Australian Pelican - Pelecanus conspicillatus

One of 7 pelican species in the world and the Australian pelican is typical. It feeds mainly on fish but will take crustracians, turtles and even other birds. It usually feeds cooperatively, with several birds driving fish into concentrated groups and often into shallows where they are scooped up with their giant bills. It is found over most of Australia, in both fresh, salt and brackish water.
